Clayton maintains a broad civil and commercial litigation practice. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also published articles in the areas of employment law and private international law, and presented on commercial leasing issues.
Clayton joined the firm in 2017 after articling at a national law firm and acting as a judicial law clerk for five justices of the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Clayton graduated with a J.D. from the University of British Columbia in 2015. While at law school, Clayton received the Dean’s J.D. Entrance Scholarship, the UBC Law Scholarship, the UBC Law Foundation Scholarship, and the Panvini Scholarship in Law. He also participated in the Innocence Project, where he had an opportunity to investigate claims of wrongful conviction.
Outside of the office, Clayton enjoys attending local sporting events, concerts, and craft breweries.

- Co-counsel on a successful constitutional appeal relating to judicial remuneration: British Columbia (Attorney General) v. Provincial Court Judges’ Association of British Columbia, 2024 BCCA 233.
- Co-counsel for beneficiaries in removal of trustee from family trust: Ghag v. Ghag, 2021 BCCA 106, 2020 BCSC 2136.
- Co-counsel on a successful constitutional appeal relating to judicial remuneration: Provincial Court Judges’ Association of British Columbia v. British Columbia (Attorney General), 2021 BCCA 295.
- Co-counsel for the University of British Columbia and the Allard School of Law in a dispute with a lead donor concerning the scope of the donor’s Gift Agreement with the University: Allard v. The University of British Columbia, 2021 BCSC 60.
- Co-counsel in a successful appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada in a case concerning government’s obligation to produce confidential Cabinet records in litigation: British Columbia (Attorney General) v. Provincial Court Judges’ Association of British Columbia, 2020 SCC 20.
- Co-counsel in an appeal successfully freezing money against dissipation prior to trial, and clarifying the law on counsel’s obligations when appearing on ex parte applications: Director of Civil Forfeiture v. Silver International Investments Ltd. et al., 2020 BCCA 244.
- Co-counsel for strata lot owners in a successful challenge to a rental restriction bylaw under the Strata Property Act: The Owners, Strata Plan VR 855 v Shawn Oaks Holdings Ltd., 2018 BCSC 1162.
- Co-counsel in a successful petition resulting in a new election for a Polish society under the Society Act: Skrzymowska v. Polish Veterans Association in B.C., 2018 BCSC 373.
- Co-counsel in a successful application to stay complex claims in breach of contract, conspiracy and misappropriation of confidential information that were brought in both British Columbia and Missouri on the basis that Missouri was the more appropriate forum to deal with the dispute: Quanta Services, Inc. v. Rokstad Power Corporation, 2017 BCSC 1858.
